Coach Jonas
Jonas Colaco Venancio is originally from the south of Portugal. He graduated from Piaget University with a Bachelor of Science - In Physical Therapy. Jonas is fluent in multiple languages —English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, and his native tongue of Portuguese. He recently married and relocated to Atlanta from Germany.
Since the age of 7, Jonas played soccer with various National Portuguese Soccer Academies and tournaments, including the prestigious “Lopes da Silva” U-15 Tournament for region districts selection.
After a knee injury at 16 years old, Jonas transitioned from Soccer to a full-time Futsal career. He continued as a member of the Portuguese Futsal Federation Academy until he became a professional Futsal player, at age 21, for the Portuguese Futsal Federation.
Jonas took his passion and love for Soccer and Futsal and gave back to the community. He served as a coach at the same academy where he attended as a young player. He coached Futsal and Soccer on Portuguese U-11, U-14, and U-18 teams for several years while continuing to play.
As a member of the Portuguese Futsal Federation of People with Diabetes, Jonas played in consecutive International competitions, from 2014-2016, in Hungary, Bosnia, and Romania. He then transitioned to the German Professional Futsal league, Futsal-Regionalliga.
Jonas returned to the soccer pitch when he joined the semi-professional soccer team in Germany's Second League 2019-2020.
Jonas's career on and off the pitch has molded the man he is today and he is excited to bring the experience, passion, drive, motivation, and most importantly, energy to this project.
